Hon’ble PM Modi to Inaugurate the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre, Showcasing India's Inclusive Growth Story

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is anticipated to inaugurate the new convention Centre at the redeveloped Pragati Maidan on July 26, which has been designated as the venue for the prestigious G20 Leaders' Summit in September 2023. The expansive redeveloped Pragati Maidan complex spans an impressive 123 acres.

According to an official tweet, the redeveloped and modern India Exposition Mart and Convention Centre (IECC) Complex is ranked among the top 10 exhibition and convention complexes in the world in terms of covered event space. It stands in competition with renowned venues like the Hannover Exhibition Centre in Germany and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Shanghai.

The project cost is estimated at 2150 crore.

The convention centre boasts an impressive 7,000 seating capacity in a single format, complemented by an amphitheatre with a capacity of 3,000 seats. With four levels, the complex features auditoriums, 24 meeting rooms, and a dedicated room for the G20 summit.

Furthermore, the redeveloped Pragati Maidan complex offers six exhibition halls, small meeting rooms, a food court, and a parking lot capable of accommodating 4,800 cars.

The responsibility for executing this project lies with the state-owned construction company, NBCC (India) Ltd. In addition to the India Exposition Mart and Convention Centre, the project also includes the construction of new exhibition halls.

While the newly renovated MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) Venue is sure to garner global attention, it is imperative that the officials responsible for its management recognize the immense opportunity it presents. A proactive approach akin to other world-class venues, along with effective venue marketing and a customer-centric attitude, will be crucial in making the best use of this opportunity. As the MICE industry is centered around people and relationships, it is vital to foster a courteous and welcoming atmosphere.
